Position Overview

As an Internal Relations Officer, you will support the Director for Internal Relations in nurturing a positive, inclusive, and engaged community within GenEI. You will support the wellbeing of our members and volunteers, strengthen internal communication across committees, assist in upholding our internal norms, and help build an organisational culture that reflects our mission and values.

The position is voluntary, with an expected commitment of 4-5 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the associate member community, acting as their primary point of contact and ensuring they are engaged, informed, and supported. Learn more about associate membership here.
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all GenEI members, volunteers, and contributors across different cultural backgrounds.
  • Support the onboarding of new members, helping them integrate into the organisation and connect with the right people and teams.
  • Assist in developing and implementing internal communications strategies to keep members informed, engaged, and aligned with GenEI’s goals.
  • Organise internal events, team-building activities, and initiatives that strengthen relationships and community spirit across the network.

Post-Specific Requirements

  • Experience in human resources, people management, community building, or a related field — formal or informal.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
  • Ability to work with empathy and discretion in a multicultural, distributed environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple relationships and responsibilities simultaneously.

General Requirements

  • Passion for EU-India relations and youth engagement.
  • Be a national of any of the 27 EU Member States, India, or a country recognised as an EU membership candidate.
  • Be between 18 and 35 years old.
