About GenEI

Generation EU-India (GenEI) is a multi-stakeholder, youth-led network dedicated to enhancing EU–India relations through youth engagement. Our mission is to empower young Europeans and Indians, giving them a voice and space to foster mutual understanding between both sides, and shape the landscape of bilateral and multilateral relations.

Position Overview

The Head of Events leads the Events Committee in planning, organising, and delivering a diverse range of activities that promote EU–India relations. These include both online and in-person events, and closed-door and public events. The role requires strong team management skills, organisational abilities, effective cross-team coordination, and a passion for creating engaging and impactful events. This is a voluntary position with an expected commitment of 6-8 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Event Strategy and Planning: Following guidance from the Board, develop event strategies and detailed timelines. Draft and implement an events plan that aligns with GenEI’s objectives and engages our target audience.
  • Leadership and Cross-Functional Coordination: Lead the Events Team – ensuring clear task distribution, accountability and collaboration. Coordinate closely with the Editor-in-Chief and the Head of Communications to ensure all events are coherent, well promoted, and aligned with our goals.
  • Logistics Management: Oversee all logistical aspects of events, anticipating challenges and resolving issues proactively – ensuring smooth delivery from planning to execution and  post-event evaluation.
  • Event Evaluation: Assess event outcomes and derive key learnings to enhance participant experience and overall impact.
  • Administration & Record-Keeping: Ensure all events are accurately and completely documented using the administrative template provided. Ensure all records are up to date and accessible for internal review.

Post-Specific Requirements

  • Event Planning Experience: Proven experience in planning and delivering events, with strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Leadership Ability: Experience leading a team, with strong coordination and communication capabilities.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to manage complex logistics and ensure every aspect of an event is executed to a high standard.
  • Creative Thinking: Capacity to develop innovative event concepts that engage and inspire participants.
  • Adaptability: Ability to handle unexpected challenges and adjust plans as required in a fast-paced environment, both within GenEI and EU–India relations.
  • Digital Skills: Experience using Google services, Zoom, Slack, Canva, and WordPress (the more, the better).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with youth-led or non-profit organisations.
  • Familiarity with EU-India relations and international event planning.

General Requirements

  • Passion for EU-India relations and youth engagement.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
  • Be a national of any of the 27 EU Member States, India, or a country recognised as an EU membership candidate.
  • Be between 18 and 35 years old.
  • Exceptions: Candidates exceeding this age range or whose nationality falls outside our standard eligibility criteria may be considered for membership. Submit your CV and a cover letter (300-500 words max) to generationeuindia@gmail.com by January 11, 2026. Your cover letter should outline your past event-management experience, including your roles, key responsibilities, and the scale and type of events you have organised.

Additionally, attach to your cover letter a potential event proposal (in the form of a concept note) relevant to EU-India relations, as you would present it to GenEI’s Board. The event proposal should include: the event title; description of the event’s relevance (maximum 10 lines); listing of potential speakers (maximum 4-8 names); a brief timeline for execution (milestones); and a concise list (maximum 6-10 bullet points) outlining your needs from other GenEI teams (Board, Editorial, Communications, etc.).
