I see GenEI as a vital platform connecting young people in Europe and India who are interested in exploring the EU-India relationship. As of 2024, there is no specific reference point for the youth in this area, and GenEI aims to fill that gap.
On a broader level, GenEI serves as an experiment to gauge the interest among young people on both sides regarding EU-India relations. It also tests the viability of a nonprofit project like this—specifically, how much funding is available and whether institutions like universities, think tanks, and governments are willing to support and sustain it.
Currently, the ‘EU-India ecosystem’—comprising public and private organizations focused on EU-India relations—offers little space for youth involvement. The overall ecosystem remains disconnected and dysfunctional, with no organization delivering significant impact on EU-India relations or benefiting those interested in them, especially young people. This presents a tremendous opportunity for improvement and innovation.
Looking ahead, I am certain GenEI will contribute to bring to the table the youth on both the EU and India side. Let’s see where this journey leads us!
